Middle School:
8 to 12 year olds

Our Middle School programme is all about building on the strong foundations of Key Stage 1. We offer structured lessons that are project based to ensure that the forest features highly.

It is more than just academics—our focus is to help children become independent thinkers. We encourage our older children to solve problems by asking questions, all while further developing their literacy, numeracy, and communication skills. With every new challenge, they grow in resilience, creativity and curiosity, ready to take on whatever comes next.

Seeing the excitement on children’s faces is so rewarding. The outdoors makes learning feel like an adventure, they're are not only solving maths problems, they’re discovering the world around them.

In the Middle School we base our academic approach on practical learning. Ensuring that each lesson inspires, strong learners are stretched, and those needing support are guided with care—ensuring everyone makes progress. Taking maths, science and english to the forest, our outdoor activities, community projects, and Eco School programme give older children leadership opportunities and a sense of responsibility.

At this stage our focus is on reenforced learning, building skills, confidence, and resilience—so that we can prepare your child for the next step, whatever path they choose. Offering the Pearson iPrimary curriculum, which is recognised worldwide, we know that when children leave at age 12, they are ready for secondary education and will thrive as well-rounded, inqusitive young people.

Communicating with confidence

In Middle School, we really celebrate language learning in both English and French, helping children find their voice—whether it’s their second or even third language. With 6.5 hours of French lessons each week and constant English use, they quickly build confidence through reading, speaking, and just giving it a go.

Our objective is to make children feel comfortable and excited to try—whether they’re chatting with friends, diving into books, or exploring new vocabulary. We make sure language is part of everyday life, so they feel at ease expressing themselves and making real progress.
